Changes WYD'23:
Youth Festival
During WYD’23 (from 1 to 6 August), in the context of the Youth Festival, the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora will have a diversified program, hosting several events inside. It is possible to check the Festival activities here
For this reason, the visit to the space itself will undergo some changes in several aspects that we will mention:
Opening Hours
- Between the 1st and 4th of August:
- To visit the Monastery in its entirety: from 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM
- To participate in the activities: from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- On the 5th and 6th of August the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora will be closed.
Ticket Prices
- From the 1st to 4th of August
- The first floor shall be open to the public completely free of charge;
- The second floor and access to the panoramic view require a ticket with the usual price.
- The visit is entirely free for World Youth Day credential holders
Museum Route (from the 1st to 4th of August)
- Between 10:00 AM and 06:00 PM, the following spaces may be visited free of charge (by any person):
- Medieval Cistern
- Entrance
- Exhibition “The Lisbon Church and the Patriarchs”
- Cloisters
- Church
- Sacristy
- Chapel of the Children of Palhavã
- Pantheon of Patriarchs of Lisbon
- Royal Pantheon of the Braganza Dynasty
- Between 10:00 AM and 06:00 PM, the following spaces may be visited with a ticket or pilgrim credential:
- Exhibition of the Fables of La Fontaine
- Archaeological Exhibition: “3000 Years of History”
- Exhibition of the Portraits of the Patriarchs of Lisbon
- Exhibition of Portuguese Seashells by Consolado-Macedo
- High Choir
- Panoramic View
- Between 06:00 PM and 11:00 PM, the following spaces may be visited free of charge:
- Medieval Cistern
- Church
- Cloisters

Open daily, 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM
Last admission at 05:00 PM
Closed on 1st of January, Good Friday, Easter
